Oshiomhole, a former Governor of Edo State, expressed concern about the unequal implementation of the new minimum wage across various states, stating, “Now that you have N35,000, there are workers from different states.

Are all the state governments implementing it? The answer is no. Why should it be no, and why are they at peace? Your members are not at peace in the States.”

He underscored the need for a comprehensive application of the new minimum wage across all sectors, whether public or private, emphasizing that it should not be selectively implemented. Oshiomhole urged the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to address these issues, ensuring that every worker, regardless of their employment sector, receives the N35,000 minimum wage. He warned that failure to comply with this directive would result in a lack of Christmas celebrations for employers in both the public and private sectors.
