Nigerians React As APC In Benue Claims Conspiracy To Stage Protest Against Tinubu And Others (Details)
The Benue State All Progressives Congress (APC) has disclosed its discovery of a plot by agents of the state government to sponsor a protest against President Bola Tinubu. The aim of the protest is purportedly to hinder the cessation of funds to local governments with undemocratic structures in Benue and other states across the country. This revelation was communicated in a statement by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Daniel Ihomun…..CONTINUE READING....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Ihomun clarified that the protest also targets the Senate President, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, who presided over the Senate plenary that passed the resolution, as well as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Dr. George Akume, the APC Leader in Benue, who has faced baseless accusations in the state.
The party expressed concern about the potential dangers of this act of sabotage, emphasizing that such actions by individuals claiming APC membership and working under an APC state government could undermine unity within the state and the party. The statement noted an earlier call for the resignation of the State Party Chairman, Comrade Austin Agada, without any substantive reason.
While acknowledging the right to express dissent, the party deemed it unacceptable for individuals to embarrass the President, Senate President, and the SGF through an open protest to stifle government action on a legal matter.
In response to these developments, the party called on the Inspector General of Police and the Benue State Commissioner of Police to closely monitor the planned protest, emphasizing the need to prevent actions that may lead to anarchy. The statement urged Governor Hyacinth Alia to monitor the activities of elements using his name to perpetrate acts capable of causing chaos in the state. Ihomun called on security agencies in the state to stay vigilant.

Despite failing to secure the APC ticket after participating in its primary, and his subsequent exclusion from the electoral commission’s roster, the former IGP’s camp maintains he is firmly in the contest. Abdullahi Yammani, the Director General of Adamu’s Gubernatorial Campaign Organisation, stated in Lafia that following extensive consultations across Nasarawa’s 13 local government areas, Adamu resigned from the APC and completed an online registration with the SDP. Yammani emphasized that the former police chief aims to leverage his background in security and governance to address the state’s challenges.
With Musa Adamu Angbazo currently listed as the SDP candidate instead, controversy has naturally emerged. However, Yammani remains optimistic that the issue will be ironed out, maintaining that they possess documentation backing Adamu’s registration and candidacy with the party.
