Earlier reports had indicated that the President was accompanied by 1,411 Nigerians to the event in the UAE, sparking widespread discontent and accusations of insensitivity by the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government.

In response, the PDP, through its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, issued a statement on Sunday. The party asserted that this development further confirms the perception that “the Tinubu-led APC administration is wasteful, frivolous, and reckless in the application of the scarce resources of the nation, especially at a time when Nigerians are calling for prudent management to achieve infrastructural regeneration, job creation, and economic revival.”

The opposition party questioned the decision to expend resources in such a manner when the country is grappling with citizens’ daily struggles to afford necessities. According to the PDP, Tinubu’s action in taking a substantial number of individuals to the event implies that the administration prioritizes the interests of a select few over the well-being of the general populace.

The PDP called on the Presidency to “come clean” by publicly disclosing the names of the official delegation sponsored by the Federal Government for the conference.
