As reported by Nivo News, the Jigawa State House of Assembly approved the absorption of 3000 J-Teach staff out of the 4,500 initially recruited. The J-Teach program was introduced by the Jigawa State government to address the teacher shortage in the state.
Governor Namadi explained, “The absorption of J-Teach into permanent positions is planned in phases, with the initial phase aiming to absorb 3,000. This approach ensures fairness for all, as opposed to random selection. The aptitude test serves to select the best candidates from the 4,500, and those not successful will continue as J-Teach staff until the next round of recruitment.”
He underscored the necessity of the aptitude test to guarantee the recruitment of qualified candidates, adding, “We have additional plans for those who may not have passed the test, including vocational training and empowerment.”
Governor Namadi reassured that recruitment would be exclusively from the existing pool of 4500 J-Teach staff and announced that a new date for the aptitude test would be communicated.
