Breaking: SERAP Calls On Senate President To Deny Approval For FCT Minister’s Extravagant Spending Plan-Wike’s N15 Billion VP Residence Proposal In 2024 Budget (Details)

SERAP urged Akpabio to utilize the Senate’s authority to scrutinize and reject the N2.8 billion designated for FCTA publicity, along with other potentially wasteful expenses outlined in the 2023 supplementary budget and the 2024 budget proposed by President Bola Tinubu.
The organization emphasized that such spending contradicts the Nigerian Constitution and international anti-corruption and human rights commitments.
SERAP urged the Senate to fulfill its constitutional duties by preventing unnecessary and extravagant expenditures and addressing the country’s debt crisis.
In the absence of appropriate action, SERAP indicated a willingness to pursue legal measures to compel the National Assembly to fulfill its constitutional oversight responsibilities.
