This plea was articulated in a communique released after the 5th Supreme Council and the 23rd Tiv Day Cultural Celebration held at the Tiv Council Hall in Bali, Bali Local Government Area.

The statement, signed by Chairman Zaki David Gbaa and Secretary Zaki Nelson Targema, commended Governor Kefas for his efforts in maintaining peace and creating a peaceful environment.

The council also called for the appointment of more Tiv individuals in government roles, emphasizing the need for agricultural support to farmers for increased food production. Additionally, the council urged Tiv stakeholders and traditional rulers to promote security awareness and unity among their communities.

The ratification of the Tiv traditional leaders’ council name was confirmed as “Gum Begha u Tiv Taraba” (the young lion of Tiv Taraba).

In a post shared on his official X account on Monday, Shehu reacted to reports suggesting that only a small fraction of the Nigerian Army’s 2025 budget for security equipment has been released.

He stated that although over ₦20 billion was approved for the procurement of security equipment, only about ₦1.7 billion—roughly 7 percent—has reportedly been disbursed so far.
