The statement, released by Tim Sogbeinde, Head of Creatives & Visual Identity Management at BUA Group, expressed gratitude to the APC for considering Mr. Rabiu for the esteemed position, acknowledging the recognition of both his and BUA Group’s dedication to national economic prosperity and development.
However, the statement underscored the longstanding apolitical stance maintained by Abdul Samad Rabiu and BUA Group over the years, emphasizing its integral nature to their business operations. It highlighted Mr. Rabiu’s commitment to driving economic growth through BUA Group initiatives and philanthropic endeavors via ASR Africa.
Providing reasons for declining the nomination, the statement clarified that Mr. Rabiu had not been consulted about his inclusion in the list and cited his demanding schedule, deeming it impractical to commit time to the role.
The statement reinforced Mr. Rabiu’s steadfast belief in leveraging business acumen and philanthropy to contribute to development and positive societal change independently of political involvement. It emphasized that his primary contributions to Nigeria’s advancement would continue through strategic investments in the economy and philanthropy rather than political affiliations or roles.
“While remaining committed to supporting governmental policies that foster desired development as partners in progress, our Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, is dedicated to Nigeria’s progress in roles he is most suited for — those of an entrepreneur, businessman, and philanthropist,” the statement concluded, aiming to provide clarity on the matter.
