In a clarification posted on its verified X handle on Monday, INEC stated that it is in the process of assembling all the required documents to determine the associated certification costs.
Athon Achonu had accused INEC of denying his party access to certified true copies of election documents. However, INEC emphasized its acknowledgment of the application for document certification from the Labour Party and ongoing communication with them. The electoral body assured that the legal department would estimate the certification cost for all 33 requested items.
The posted statement by INEC read, “The Commission is assembling all the needed documents to assess the cost so that payment could be made. Management clearly understands the right of parties to request for CTC of documents and would work assiduously to issue them.”
It is worth noting that INEC declared Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Party as the winner of the November 11 governorship polls in Imo State.
