The incident occurred during school hours on Wednesday when a pungent odor suddenly filled the premises. Victims quickly began suffering from severe breathing difficulties, weakness, and loss of consciousness, prompting urgent medical evacuations to the General Hospital in Ijebu-Ode.

This marks the third time in just two months that residents have been terrorized by gas-related emergencies in the area. Previous incidents in April and May resulted in the hospitalization of approximately 40 and 100 students, respectively.

Ogun State Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, confirmed the government is actively responding to the latest crisis. According to the Commissioner, monitoring equipment has successfully traced the source of the leak to the area directly behind the school. He assured the public that the government is now implementing urgent measures to seal the source and prevent further health hazards.
