Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who is also the gubernatorial candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the off-season election on November 11, has expressed contentment with the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) for the ongoing election’s conduct…CONTINUE READING
Uzodimma praised the residents of the state, particularly those in his community, for turning out in large numbers to participate in the voting process. Additionally, he commended the security operatives for their efforts in maintaining a peaceful and secure environment throughout the election.
The Saturday governorship election has over two million eligible voters, with 18 political parties presenting candidates. Despite the array of candidates, the election is primarily seen as a three-way contest involving the incumbent governor, Hope Uzodinma of the APC, Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Achonu of the Labour Party (LP).
INEC reported a total of 2,419,922 registered voters in the state, with 2,318,919 of them having collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and being eligible to vote. This marks a 6.5 percent increase in registered voters compared to the 2,272,293 recorded in the previous 2019 elections in the southeastern state.
