BREAKING: Obono-Obla Condemns NDDC’s N16 Billion Allocation To Cross River As Insulting....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Former presidential aide to Muhammadu Buhari, Obol Okoi Obono-Obla, has criticized the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for allocating only N16 billion for capital projects in 2023/2024, deeming it inadequate, unjust, and unfair to Cross River State…CONTINUE READING

In a statement released on Saturday morning, the APC chieftain declared that such an allocation is unconstitutional and should not be accepted. The NDDC, encompassing nine states, including Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo, and Rivers States, disclosed the project allocation under their Appropriation Act 2023.

Obono-Obla questioned the NDDC’s rationale, stating, “What gives the NDDC the audacity to insult the people of Cross River State with reckless abandon and ignominy, whereas every state enumerated is equal to each other and must be treated equally without any shade or iota of discrimination?”

He argued that the justification for allocating only N16 billion to Cross River State based on its non-contributory status to oil production is unfounded and goes against the NDDC Act.

According to him, the NDDC management cannot introduce elements that the NDDC Act does not envision, and such actions are unconstitutional, as they violate the Nigerian Constitution’s prohibition against discrimination.

Obono-Obla criticized the attempt to justify what he labeled as blatant injustice, imbalanced resource distribution, and political favoritism among NDDC member states.
