Breaking: Imo State Governorship Poll In Jeopardy As Material Absence Raises Concerns....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The gubernatorial election in Imo State on Saturday commenced in certain areas with a less-than-stable start characterized by minimal voter turnout and the non-arrival of election officials and materials at various visited polling units (PUs).

Nivo News, providing coverage of the election, reported instances where voters, alongside security personnel, were patiently waiting for INEC officials and materials at 8:30 am in some PUs.

At PU 001 Ekeama Primary School, Awaka I, near Owerri, voters and security personnel were present, anticipating the arrival of electoral officials and materials.

Mrs. Hilda Nnadi, a voter, expressed confidence in the process, stating, “I believe materials will soon arrive, and we’ll vote. I’ll be patient.”

Similar circumstances were observed at PU 002 Ekeama Primary School, Awaka II, and PU 003 Community Primary School, Amapu Awaka. Mr. Fidelis Nwokedi, another voter, expressed hope that INEC would ensure a successful election.

However, at PU 004 Community Primary School, Amapu Awaka II, and PU 016 Emeohe Village Hall, there was low voter turnout, and the absence of security personnel, INEC officials, and materials was evident.

A disappointed voter, Miss Amaka Okpara, voiced concerns, saying, “Only very few of us are here, and there is no security, not even one police officer. I will soon leave and go back to my house if they don’t come.”

A similar scenario unfolded at PU 007 Community Primary School, Ihita-Ogada II, PU 008 Ihita-Ogada Village Square, and PU 011 Health Centre, Ubah Emii I, where voters and security personnel awaited the arrival of INEC officials and materials.

This trend was also observed at PU 013 Eziala Village Square, where a substantial number of voters, accompanied by security personnel, awaited the arrival of INEC officials and materials.

At PU 012, Central School, Amaimo, in Ikeduru LGA, the polling unit of PDP candidate Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, INEC officials and materials had not yet arrived as of 8:45 am. No security personnel were present at the PU, but voters were seen waiting to cast their votes. Mr. Ibe Chika, a voter, expressed disappointment that no INEC official had arrived despite his early arrival at the polling unit at 8:00 am.
