Peter Obi’s Name Emerges As Iyabo Obasanjo Breaks Silence On Alleged Political Alliance.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Ogun Central, Iyabo Obasanjo, has dismissed reports suggesting that she is considering a political alliance with the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement released by Peter Macjob, spokesperson for the Iyabo Obasanjo Senatorial Campaign Organisation, the former senator described the claim as false, insisting that she had never met Obi to discuss political matters.
“I have never met Obi for any political discussions ever,” she said, rejecting suggestions that she was negotiating or considering any political arrangement with the former Anambra State governor.
The clarification followed a social media report attributed to the blog Very Nigerian, which claimed that a political alliance known as the Rainbow Coalition was taking shape in Ogun Central, with Obasanjo allegedly considering endorsing Obi.
However, Obasanjo reaffirmed her support for President Bola Tinubu, explaining that her position was based on her longstanding political relationship with the President.
She said Tinubu was the presidential candidate she knew best, particularly because of his seniority in politics and the respect he had consistently shown her.
“I am supporting Tinubu because I know him best of all the presidential candidates as a much senior politician, and he has always treated me with respect,” she stated.
The former senator described the report as fabricated, alleging that it was intended to mislead voters and create confusion within the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The campaign organisation also maintained that no meetings, consultations or agreements had taken place between Obasanjo and Obi regarding a possible cross-party alliance or voting arrangement.
It further emphasised that Obasanjo remained the PDP’s duly cleared senatorial candidate for Ogun Central and was focused on her ambition to represent the district in the Senate.

‘I Won’t Take This Lightly’ – Tope Alabi Threatens To Sue Pastor Over Ritual Killing Claim.
Popular Nigerian gospel singer Tope Alabi has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to Canada-based preacher Tayo Kumuyi, demanding that he retract and apologise for social media posts allegedly linking her to the death of gospel singer Toluwanisings or face legal action.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
News reports that Kumuyi operates a Facebook page known as Pastor Tayo Ministries, where the controversial allegations were published.
The ultimatum was contained in a cease-and-desist letter dated October 24, 2026, issued on Alabi’s behalf by her lawyers, Oakmount Legal Practitioners, and signed by Toluwanimi Okunade.
According to the letter, the cleric published a series of posts between October 20 and 24, accusing Alabi of murder and ritual killing and allegedly linking her to the deaths of Toluwanisings and other gospel ministers.
The singer’s legal representatives described the allegations as baseless and extremely damaging, stressing that accusing someone of murder and ritual killing was among the most serious claims that could be made against a person, particularly a gospel minister.
“These statements accuse our client of murder and of ritual killing. There is no more serious allegation that can be made against a person, least of all a minister of the gospel. They are false in every particular,” the lawyers stated.
They challenged Kumuyi to provide evidence supporting his claims, noting that no investigation, police report or court judgment had substantiated the allegations.
“You have produced no evidence, because none exists,” the letter added.
The lawyers maintained that Alabi had mourned Toluwanisings’ death both privately and publicly, insisting that she had no involvement in the circumstances surrounding the singer’s passing.
Oakmount Legal Practitioners also accused the preacher of exploiting the public grief surrounding Toluwanisings’ death to tarnish their client’s reputation.
“You have taken the grief of a bereaved family and a nation, and turned it into a weapon against an innocent woman, for reasons best known to you,” the letter read.
The law firm also rejected Kumuyi’s reported attempt to present his publications as divine revelations, arguing that such claims did not justify the dissemination of damaging allegations without evidence.
“Your conduct is not honest comment, and it is not ‘revelation’. It is a deliberate, reckless and malicious publication of falsehood to the world, repeated day after day, with a call to your followers to spread it further,” the lawyers stated.
They further noted that the posts had attracted hundreds of reactions and shares, while comments beneath them suggested that some readers believed the allegations.
The letter also referenced a post allegedly directed at Alabi after she issued a public warning against defamation on October 23.
The lawyers quoted the preacher as writing: “Tope Alabi, no letter will save you from my hand. Your only option is leaving your hiding place.”
Describing the statement as a threat, the legal representatives argued that it suggested the cleric intended to continue his alleged attacks against the singer.
“That is not a response to a legal notice. It is a threat of harm, and an open declaration that you will continue,” they said.
Alabi’s lawyers maintained that the publications amounted to libel because they accused her of serious criminal offences capable of damaging her reputation, career and gospel ministry.
They also argued that describing the allegations as spiritual messages did not exempt the preacher from potential legal liability. According to the firm, his residence in Canada would not automatically protect him from legal consequences, given that the publications allegedly targeted a Nigerian audience and harmed Alabi’s reputation in the country.
Among their demands, the lawyers instructed Kumuyi to delete the disputed posts, refrain from further publications and threats, and preserve all relevant evidence.
They also demanded an unconditional retraction and apology on the same Facebook page where the allegations appeared. The apology, they said, must remain pinned to the page for 14 consecutive days.
Additionally, the preacher was asked to provide evidence for any allegations he intended to maintain and clarify whether he had reported the claims to the police.
“Take notice that this is our client’s final demand,” the letter warned.
The law firm stated that failure to comply within the stipulated period would result in legal proceedings seeking injunctions, general and exemplary damages, and legal costs. It also threatened to file complaints with Meta Platforms and relevant law enforcement agencies.
However, the lawyers clarified that their letter was not intended to prevent truthful reporting or legitimate commentary.
Toluwanisings, whose real name was Olayemi Bolaji, died on October 14, 2026, at the age of 41.

2026 Election Shake-Up: Ekiti SDP Governorship Candidate Alade Dumps Party For APC.
Isaac Alade, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate in the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Alade, who has also endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term, announced his decision in a statement issued on Saturday.
He explained that his defection followed the withdrawal of his petition involving the SDP and a reassessment of his political options. According to him, the APC provides a more suitable platform to contribute to the development of Ekiti State and Nigeria at large.
In a declaration letter made available to Sunday Punch, the former SDP candidate said he was impressed by the performance of Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, particularly his administration’s projects and people-oriented approach to governance.
Alade described Oyebanji as hardworking, humble and respectful, adding that the governor’s commitment to the welfare of Ekiti residents had convinced him that supporting his administration was the right decision.
The politician also expressed support for Tinubu’s economic reforms, while acknowledging the difficult conditions confronting Nigerians.
He identified food shortages, insecurity, rising fuel prices and widespread economic hardship as some of the major challenges facing the country. However, he appealed to Nigerians to remain patient with the government.
According to him, rebuilding the economy would require time, national unity and the collective efforts of citizens. He added that sustained public support was necessary for the administration to achieve meaningful progress.
Alade further argued that continuity in governance, where it serves the national interest, was important for sustainable development. He subsequently declared his support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
“Consequently, I, Alade Isaac Adedayo, hereby formally declare my departure from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and my decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC),” he stated.
He said the decision followed careful consideration of his political journey and the future of Ekiti State and Nigeria, emphasising the need to align with a party that would enable him to advance good governance, peace, unity and development.
Alade pledged to support both Oyebanji’s administration and Tinubu’s national agenda, while urging his supporters and political associates to join him in the APC.

Rangers’ African Dream Crushed: Olanrewaju Questions Ability Of Nigerian Clubs To Compete.
Rivers United assistant coach Yemi Olanrewaju has raised concerns about the ability of Nigerian football clubs to compete with their African counterparts, pointing to disparities in budgets, facilities and infrastructure.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Olanrewaju spoke following Enugu Rangers’ elimination from the CAF Champions League, explaining that his experience in continental competitions had exposed the significant gap between Nigerian teams and other clubs across Africa.
“Having qualified back-to-back for the group stage of CAF Competitions, in the CAF Confederation Cup with Enyimba and the CAF Champions League with Rivers United, I have said it that we don’t have what it takes to compete with a lot of African clubs,” he said.
The former Enyimba manager, who became the youngest head coach in Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) history during his time with the Aba-based club, argued that Nigerian teams lacked the resources needed to compete consistently at the highest level of African football.
“Our budgets, facilities and level nor reach those people,” Olanrewaju said in Pidgin English. “I was called different names. I’ve been there and see the levels and differences. Truth is bitter though.”
His remarks came after Rangers suffered a 3-0 defeat to Algerian champions MC Alger in the second leg of their CAF Champions League second preliminary-round tie at the Ali La Pointe Stadium in Algiers.
The result saw MC Alger advance with a 3-2 aggregate victory, overturning Rangers’ 2-0 advantage from the first leg in Abeokuta and ending the Nigerian champions’ hopes of reaching the group stage.
Rangers had appeared well-positioned to progress until Chahreddine Boukholda broke the deadlock for the Algerian side in the 58th minute.
The Nigerian club received a reprieve in the 70th minute when their goalkeeper saved a penalty taken by Mohamed Bangoura.
However, Bangoura made amends by restoring parity on aggregate with six minutes of normal time remaining before Soufiane Bayazid struck three minutes into stoppage time to complete MC Alger’s comeback.
Rangers’ elimination followed Rivers United’s exit in the first preliminary round, leaving Nigeria without a representative in the CAF Champions League group stage.
With their continental campaign over, Rangers will now focus on the domestic league, where they are level on points with Rivers United at the top of the NPFL table.
