On Friday, Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, criticized opposition parties in Kogi State for their failure to form a coalition ahead of the upcoming governorship election on Saturday. In a statement released by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele rebuked the candidates for prioritizing their individual interests over the state’s progress.
He emphasized that the opposition candidates stand little chance of winning the governorship election without a united front. According to Primate Ayodele, a coalition would have enhanced the opposition’s prospects, but their collective desire for power simultaneously hinders such collaboration. He predicted that the ruling party, APC, would likely retain power in the state due to the opposition’s failure to take the necessary steps to alter the course of political control.
“In Kogi State, the opposition parties are unlikely to secure victory in the governorship election because they have not undertaken the necessary measures. Winning elections individually is implausible for them, and they should have united against the ruling party for the state’s advancement. However, the current scenario indicates that their success is doubtful.
A coalition could have strengthened the opposition, but their simultaneous pursuit of power hinders such cooperation. The election is poised to be a fierce battle, and the APC is prepared to exert maximum effort. The journey to victory will be challenging, and the party is expected to face significant struggles in the election.”
