Nigerians React As Bayelsa, Kogi, Imo Residents Grapple With Fear In Anticipation Of Guber Polls....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

With the gubernatorial elections set for Saturday, November 11, in Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi states, heightened tension prevails, particularly in Imo and Kogi, where concerns about potential violence are escalating. Fears loom large amid threats of violence, mirroring the scenario during the 2023 general elections in these states.
Despite the desire of residents to participate in the polls, apprehension about personal safety is widespread. Skepticism also surrounds the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), with doubts arising from past experiences during the 2023 general elections.
Instances of poster destruction, physical attacks on party supporters, and malfunctions of BVAS machines have further fueled concerns. President Bola Tinubu, at the APC flag handover event, stressed the need for free, fair, and transparent elections in the three states, expressing optimism about the party’s success based on hard work and candidates’ records.
However, an elite organization in Kogi, Club 582, urged President Tinubu to probe recent killings in the state despite the deployment of security operatives. In Imo, the PDP calls for the redeployment of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, raising doubts about the electoral process’s integrity.
Concerns persist in Kogi and Imo, where violence may escalate, prompting calls for proactive security measures to protect voters. In Imo, opposition candidates’ posters are reportedly absent in Owerri, raising questions about political opposition’s suppression.
The SDP candidate in Kogi alleges multiple attacks, while memories of the 2019 election’s violence linger. In Bayelsa, a threat from the deputy governorship candidate of the APC adds tension, with the ruling PDP alleging the opposition’s plot to disrupt the elections.
Seigha Manager of the Niger Delta Nationalities Forum doubts INEC’s commitment to credible elections, calling for security agents to ensure safe voting. He emphasizes the need for people to be prepared for positive change. Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s Chief Alex Ogbonnia blames Nigeria’s electoral problems on the failure to separate the state from the government.
Former NBA Vice President Monday Onyekachi Ubani suggests that INEC’s ability to deliver credible elections depends on public vigilance. He urges people to voice concerns about any defects in the electoral process to ensure transparency.
