A 21-year-old, Pam Dung, has been sentenced to six months in prison by an Area Court in Jos for damaging pop ceilings and stealing electrical fittings valued at N2,417,000.
The Judge, Shawomi Bokkos, delivered the sentence after the defendant admitted guilt and sought leniency from the court. Bokkos also offered the convict an alternative of a N50,000 fine and ordered him to compensate the complainant with N2,417,000 or serve 12 months in prison if the fine is not paid.

The case was initially reported to the Rantya Police Station on September 7 by Mr. Kalu Okomba. According to the police prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, the accused unlawfully entered the complainant’s residence, damaged the pop ceilings, and made off with all the electrical fittings in the building, which were estimated to be worth N2,417,000.
During the police investigation, the accused confessed to committing the crime. The offense is in violation of the Plateau Penal Code law in Northern Nigeria.
