Enugu Governorship Election: Appeal Court Withholds Judgment In Bid To Remove Mbah....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Court of Appeal in Lagos has decided to withhold its judgment in the appeal lodged by the Labour Party gubernatorial candidate in Enugu State, Barrister Chijioke Edeoga, who is seeking to invalidate the election of Governor Peter Mba.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had previously declared Mbah as the winner of the election.

However, the LP candidate, dissatisfied with the election’s outcome, filed a petition with the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, alleging that Mbah had presented a forged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.

The tribunal, in a ruling on September 21, dismissed Edeoga’s petition and confirmed Mbah’s election.

Edeoga, not content with the tribunal’s decision, took the matter to the Court of Appeal.

Following arguments presented by the parties’ legal representatives, the three-member panel of judges adjourned the case for judgment on Monday.

The petitioners’ legal counsel urged the appellate court to overturn the tribunal’s judgment, asserting that the tribunal, led by Justice Kudirat Akano, made a legal error by dismissing a substantiated case of certificate forgery and endorsing an unlawful act with a judicial stamp.

The petitioners further contended that, in addition to the documented case of certificate forgery against Mbah, there were proven instances of over-voting in Nkanu East local government area of Enugu State, computational errors in Udenu Council area, and the swapping of results, among other irregularities.

The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to claims by Governor Ademola Adeleke that local government officials under the party diverted about ₦300 billion meant for workers’ salaries.

Adeleke had made the allegation during a stakeholders’ meeting, accusing APC-controlled council officials of hijacking funds and forcing the state government to shoulder salary payments for local government workers, teachers, health staff, and pensioners for over a year.

He insisted he would not abandon workers, blaming the situation for delays in executing some state projects.

But in a statement, APC’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, dismissed the claims, accusing the governor of misleading the public and shifting blame.

The party alleged that Adeleke was responsible for the salary issues, claiming he refused to release electronic payment vouchers and other financial documents needed for processing payments.

APC also said pension-related records, leave bonuses, cooperative deductions, and other financial data had not been made available despite repeated appeals, insisting that funds were properly accounted for and available for use if approved.

The party urged pensioners and workers to seek clarification, insisting the situation could be resolved if the governor allowed due process to take place.
