Profiting From Solid Waste Management: A Lucrative Venture Many Overlook
Profiting From Solid Waste Management: A Lucrative Venture Many Overlook....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Investing in the solid waste management sector can be highly lucrative, as it is an industry that many investors tend to overlook. Nigeria generates a substantial 32 million tons of waste annually, and the absence of robust environmental policies, government infrastructure, or effective law enforcement highlights the need for private investment in this sector.
Dr. Innocent Ihennacho Ogbonna expressed his concern over the lackadaisical attitude of some Nigerians toward waste management and emphasized the opportunity for investors to step in and address this gap.
For instance, companies like Nestle Nigeria not only create employment opportunities and produce nutritious products but also prioritize cleanliness and environmental tidiness. Their waste management practices, such as segregating empty plastic bottles from other waste, exemplify a responsible approach to waste disposal.
Furthermore, Dr. Ogbonna highlighted several avenues for profitability in the waste management sector. Mobile toilet rentals at public events can generate around N150,000 in monthly revenue, and the recycling of materials like metal objects can yield an additional N100,000.
Investors interested in solid waste management would typically require an initial investment of approximately N4 million for waste disposal trucks and related equipment, or for the acquisition of portable and mobile toilets. Currently, mobile portable toilets can generate a daily income of N2,000, making them particularly attractive for events with large gatherings.
The move of Nestle Nigeria into this field reflects a commitment to addressing waste management challenges and promoting a cleaner environment, as highlighted by Wassim ElHusseini, the Managing Director of Nestle Nigeria, during the 2023 World Consumer Day celebration held at its Agbara Industrial Estate.
