The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has called upon the commission’s staff members to maintain a non-partisan stance throughout the governorship elections scheduled for November 11 in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States.
During his visits to several INEC offices to evaluate preparations for the upcoming off-cycle governorship elections in these states, Yakubu stressed the importance of upholding integrity.
Yakubu emphasized that INEC is fully committed to ensuring credible elections in these states. He made it clear that INEC is not affiliated with any political party and has no candidate in the November 11 governorship elections. Their primary responsibility is to safeguard the people’s choice, allowing the residents of Bayelsa and Imo States to select their preferred governors.
