Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has provided an explanation for his frequent travels outside the state, stating that he is seeking financial and material assistance to address the security and socioeconomic challenges faced by the state.

Governor Lawal shared this during an interview with reporters from Farin Wata TV in Gusau, the state capital.

He highlighted that his travels have played a crucial role in rebuilding the trust of both foreign and local partners who had withdrawn their support from the state due to high levels of corruption among public officials. With renewed confidence in the state government, significant improvements in educational and healthcare infrastructure are expected to resume across the state.

Governor Lawal also mentioned that foreign agencies have donated medical equipment and medications to revive the struggling healthcare sector.

Addressing the pervasive security challenges in the state, Governor Lawal mentioned that the Community Protection Guards, recruited by the government, are undergoing training by security agencies to effectively carry out their responsibilities. They will be properly equipped and provided with the necessary resources to facilitate their operations.

Expressing concern about the rampant public corruption in the state, Governor Lawal pledged to take appropriate actions to minimize corruption by exposing wrongdoers. Furthermore, he warned public officials to refrain from engaging in corrupt practices or face removal from office.

He also approved an amendment extending the lifespan of the 2025 budget from March 31 to June 30, 2026, to ensure completion of ongoing capital projects nationwide.

Under the 2026 fiscal plan, ₦4.799 trillion is set aside for statutory transfers, ₦15.8 trillion for debt servicing, ₦15.4 trillion for recurrent spending, while ₦32.2 trillion goes to capital projects—about half of the total budget.

The focus, according to the administration, is on infrastructure development, security, and growth-driven investments aimed at improving living standards.
