The Cross River State Police Command successfully rescued a former employee of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who had been abducted at her home in Calabar on Saturday.
Irene Ugbo, the spokesperson for the command, confirmed the rescue and praised the officers for their bravery during the operation.
Ugbo reported that three suspects were apprehended during the rescue operation, and two vehicles were recovered.
Following a distress call about the abduction at Mathias Oje Avenue in Calabar Municipality, the command’s Anti Cultism and Kidnapping Squad (ACKS), led by SP Chukwuma Ogini, promptly responded.
Ugbo also commended the local Njangachang youths for their assistance in capturing the suspects.
The suspects were found to be in possession of weapons, ammunition, and charms during the operation.
She reiterated Commissioner Gyogon Grimah’s commitment to eradicating crime and criminal activities in the state.
“We want to emphasize that no kidnapper or criminal will find the state a safe haven for their activities. This is the commissioner’s commitment, as directed by the Inspector General of Police,” she stated.
