Habu Muhammad Fagge, the Executive Chairman of Kano State Pension Funds Trustees, has announced that the agency is in the process of organizing files dating back to 1973 in preparation for the disbursement of approved death benefits and gratuities amounting to N6 billion.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had confirmed last week that his government had allocated N6 billion to settle the outstanding death benefits and gratuities of retired lower cadre officers who had served many years ago.
The governor stated that approximately 5,500 retirees had been scheduled to benefit from this dedicated fund.
However, Fagge emphasized that the pension office is currently engaged in sorting through numerous files before initiating the payment process.
He further clarified that the beneficiaries encompass retirees from all 44 local government areas and state pensioners.
Fagge also expressed his anticipation of an economic upswing in the state following the disbursement of the gratuities. “Let me assure you that as soon as we complete all necessary verification and compile the list of genuine beneficiaries, payments will commence,” he added.
