  • Contested Membership Status: Reports indicate that Nwoko’s petition centers on the allegation that Okowa failed to formally resign from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before joining the APC.

  • Context of Defection: Ifeanyi Okowa, along with Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, joined the APC on April 23.

Broader Internal Challenges

  • Rivers State Contention: Similar disputes have emerged in Rivers State, where aspirants are challenging the candidacy of Kingsley Chinda, the current Minority Leader of the House of Representatives.

  • Party Stance: APC officials have dismissed these concerns, asserting that inclusion in the party register is sufficient evidence of membership.

Political Earthquake: APC Rejects Review Of Primary Results, Leaving Aggrieved Aspirants In The Cold.

Published

on

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially closed the door on any potential review of its 2027 primary election results, despite ongoing protests and petitions from dissatisfied aspirants.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Party leadership has confirmed that work on the submitted results is complete, and the final list of candidates is being prepared for upload to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal. A senior official and member of the National Working Committee (NWC), speaking on the condition of anonymity, stated that no changes to the results are being considered, noting that the official timeline for primaries and appeals has already elapsed.

Response to Petitions

While many aggrieved aspirants—particularly from states like Lagos, Delta, Zamfara, Kogi, Rivers, Plateau, and Osun—have demanded fresh primaries, the party maintains that most of these complaints are without merit.

  • Frivolous Claims: According to party officials, reports from the election appeal panels found that many petitions were “frivolous” or centered on issues outside the scope of the primary process, such as pre-primary zoning disputes or candidate clearance concerns.

  • Limited Impact: The party noted that the vast majority of the 109 senatorial districts and 360 House of Representatives constituencies did not record any appeals, and valid appeals did not significantly alter the primary outcomes.

Impact on Candidates

The primaries, held between May 16 and 18, saw at least 54 serving federal lawmakers lose their bids for return tickets. As the party awaits the release of INEC access codes for its nomination portal, the leadership remains firm that the announced results are final and that no further review will be conducted.

Final Farewell: Nation Weeps As Retired General Who Perished In Terrorist Den Is Buried.

Published

Katsina was overcome with grief on Saturday evening as family, friends, high-ranking military officials, and government dignitaries gathered to lay retired Major General Rabe Abubakar to rest. Following funeral prayers, he was buried at 6:00 pm at the Gidan Dawa Cemetery in the Katsina metropolis.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The retired general and his wife were abducted on May 30, 2026, while traveling along the Katsina-Matazu road. His death has reignited intense public debate regarding the persistent insecurity and kidnapping epidemic plaguing Northern Nigeria.

Contested Cause of Death

While the Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Nasiru Mu’azu, stated that the General died from complications related to diabetes and hypertension while held by bandits, this explanation has been met with sharp criticism.

Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, representing the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG), vehemently rejected the suggestion of a “natural” death. Charanchi argued that the state’s failure to protect its citizens is the primary cause of the tragedy, stating, “A man abducted and held by criminals did not die a natural death; he died because the state failed in its most sacred responsibility.”

A Damning Indictment of Security

For many, the death of a high-ranking military official in the hands of criminals serves as a sobering indicator of the nation’s security crisis. Charanchi expressed deep concern over the implications for the average citizen, noting that if a retired General is not safe, the vulnerability of the general public is profound.

The CNG leader concluded his remarks by praying for the soul of the departed and calling on government leadership to move beyond official rhetoric, urging them to confront the insecurity crisis with the “sincerity, courage, and determination” required to prevent future tragedies.
