Breaking: Nigerian Ambassadors And Foreign Affairs Minister Clash Over Over Diplomat Recall Date....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Nigerian Ambassadors and High Commissioners stationed in various Foreign Missions are at odds with the Foreign Affairs Minister, Amb. Yusufu Tuggar, regarding the return date for recalled diplomats. There is a contentious situation surrounding the recall of these diplomats, as conflicting information has emerged about their return date.

The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, initially announced the recall of these ambassadors and high commissioners on September 2, giving them until October 31 to return to Nigeria. However, the ambassadors made a heartfelt plea to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for an extension of the return date to December 31. They cited the need for their children to complete promotion exams and maintain the academic calendar without disruptions.

It appeared that the President had approved the extension, but the Foreign Affairs Minister, Amb. Tuggar, contradicted this by stating last week that there was no extension, and the October 31 deadline remained “sacrosanct.

Frustrated by the Minister’s firm stance and apparent disregard for their children’s education, the ambassadors are reportedly preparing for a significant confrontation. The situation is further exacerbated by financial constraints facing the foreign missions, including the threat of legal action by various service providers due to unpaid service charges.

Sources from the Foreign Missions have reported funding challenges over the past five months. As a result, the Ambassadors have sounded the alarm and called on President Tinubu to intervene before the nation faces an embarrassing situation.

However, the Foreign Affairs Minister has not only denied the extension but has also imposed an embargo on the foreign Missions’ accounts to control what he described as “frivolous spending by the Ambassadors.” According to his statement, there was no directive from the Presidency to extend the Ambassadors’ exit date.

The Ambassadors question the Minister’s true intentions and why he appears to be in a hurry to replace them, even though it would take several months to do so. They are also concerned that the Minister, in his statement, suggested that the Presidency was not convinced by the reasons for extending the Ambassadors’ stay.

Other concerned Nigerians, including International Relations Consultant Dr. Bright Iheme, have criticized the Minister’s disposition in this matter. They believe that the Minister’s statement could imply a direct accusation against President Tinubu. Iheme has emphasized the importance of prioritizing the education of Nigerian citizens and expressed disappointment with the Minister’s approach.

Iheme also pointed out that the Foreign Service Regulation typically provides three months’ notice to diplomats when recalled, but in this case, only two months were given to the Ambassadors, raising questions about the Minister’s motives.

Observers now believe that the fate of the Ambassadors hinges on President Tinubu’s political will to consider their circumstances and decisively intervene to prevent potential embarrassment.

He urged the courts to uphold the rule of law by granting bail where appropriate and ensuring that all accused persons receive fair trials.

According to him, bail is a constitutional right and should not be turned into a form of punishment or control.

Sowore further argued that using bail conditions to restrict individuals amounts to injustice and should not be tolerated, regardless of who is involved in the case.
