A motor accident along the Longbridge section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway narrowly spared the lives of more than eighteen individuals. The incident involved a white 18-seater Mazda bus with registration number FKJ285Y that was carrying passengers from Maryland to Lagos State on Wednesday when the accident occurred.
One of the survivors, Bolu, recounted the ordeal, explaining that the propeller suddenly malfunctioned while the vehicle was in motion, causing it to somersault. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, but the passengers sustained injuries to their hands and legs.
Expressing her gratitude, Bolu, who is also the mother of a six-month-old baby, stated, “If not for God and the driver, I would have been a dead person by now. We thank God and the driver for saving us.”
Another passenger named Abubakar, who had been en route to Kebbi State with plans to disembark in Ibadan, lamented that the money he had on him was insufficient to reach his intended destination in Kebbi State. He expressed his sorrow, mentioning, “I am the most distressed person on this bus; the money I have with me can no longer take me to Kebbi. The driver collected N2,600 from us before leaving the park, and he was unwilling to reimburse us or arrange for backup from the park to assist his stranded passengers.”
