Nigerians React As Gas Marketers Accuse Terminal Operators Of Orchestrating Recent Price Rate....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Gas marketers, represented by the Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers (NLPGM), have alleged that a group of terminal operators, acting as a cabal, is responsible for the recent surge in product prices. These marketers argue that this group of confident marketers unilaterally determines the price of LPG, to the detriment of ordinary Nigerian consumers.

NLPGM President Oladapo Olatunbosun conveyed this concern to the National Assembly during a session with the Senate Committee on Gas. He highlighted the fact that, despite the consistent and uninterrupted supply of gas by the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NNLG), certain prominent marketers have assumed control over pricing, resulting in significant price increases.

Olatunbosun explained the situation, stating, “The Cabals are making it difficult for the average Nigerian to have access to gas. As of today, gas is sold by these terminal owners for N16.8m for 20 metric tonnes, whereas NNLG sells to them for a little bit less than N9m.

He further identified the terminal operators involved, such as NAVGas, NIPCOPLC, Matrix Energy Ltd, Prudent Energy Ltd, Shafa Energy, Techno Gas, StockGap Ltd, Mobil, Pan Ocean Limited, NNPC, OLogbo, NSPC Apapa, SHELL, Dozzy LPG terminal.

The gas prices charged by these terminal operators have risen significantly, leaving many Nigerians struggling to afford this essential commodity. Olatunbosun highlighted the hardships this has caused, especially for students and low-income workers.

Additionally, Olatunbosun emphasized that Nigeria possesses substantial gas reserves and production capacity, and therefore, there is no justification for such exorbitant pricing. Terminal operators have cited foreign exchange transactions as a rationale for continuous price hikes, which Olatunbosun questioned.

He further implored the Senate Committee to intervene and protect the average Nigerian consumer from these terminal operators, warning that if the situation persists, gas could become a luxury product accessible only to the affluent.

Senator Jarigbe, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Gas, expressed his commitment to addressing this issue, emphasizing the government’s intention to make gas supply more accessible to the population. He pledged to support the gas marketers in rectifying the pricing issue and ensuring that gas remains affordable for all Nigerians.

She stated that the reality TV star and her siblings were rescued after the weekend incident and immediately taken for medical attention.

According to Adeh, “Following the rescue of Ms. Ilebaye Odiniya Emmanuel (27 years) and her two brothers, Godson Emmanuel Odiniya (14 years) and Devin Emmanuel Odiniya (10 years), they were rushed to Yabisam Hospital, Lugbe, alongside their father, who also sustained injuries during the confrontation, by the Area Commander Metro, ACP Ufomadu Georglyn.”

She further confirmed that the siblings are now under police protection.

“The rescued siblings are currently in police protective custody, contrary to circulating reports online, while their father, who is also receiving medical care, remains in Police custody,” she added.

Adeh also noted that investigations into the incident are ongoing, and formal questioning will begin once all parties are certified medically fit.

The development followed the arrest of Emmanuel Odiniya after he was accused of assaulting his daughter at their residence in Royal Anchor Estate, Wuye, Abuja.

The case gained widespread attention after a viral video showed Ilebaye in tears with visible facial injuries while seeking help during the incident.

Police spokesperson Adeh said officers responded to a distress call received in the early hours of Friday regarding an ongoing domestic assault.

She explained that operatives from the Wuye Division and the Department of Operations were deployed immediately to the scene.

According to her, officers initially faced difficulty accessing the residence as the gate was locked, but entry was eventually forced around 2:30 a.m. once the situation was confirmed.

She added that Ilebaye was found with visible bruises and was rescued alongside her siblings before being taken for medical treatment at NNPC Hospital, Abuja.

The father remains in custody as investigations continue to determine the circumstances surrounding the altercation.

Meanwhile, the children’s mother, Mrs. Lami Odiniya, reportedly said the incident began when Ilebaye visited the family home to see her younger brothers and discuss plans for her birthday.

She claimed the disagreement escalated after the father allegedly accused the reality star of being influenced by her mother.

The situation has reignited public attention on the family’s long-standing domestic dispute following the breakdown of their 32-year marriage, with custody of the children previously granted to the father by a court.

Customs Return Stolen Luxury Vehicles To Canada In Major International Operation.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has handed over several luxury vehicles stolen from Canada after they were intercepted at the Tin Can Island Port in Lagos.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Reports indicate that the recovered cars—including Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, Mercedes-Benz, and other high-end models—were officially transferred to Canadian authorities during a handover ceremony at the port on Monday, May 4, 2026.

The Deputy High Commissioner of Canada to Nigeria, Nasser Salihou, received the vehicles on behalf of his government from the Customs Area Controller of the Tin Can Island Command, Comptroller Frank Onyeka.

In a statement released on Sunday, the National Public Relations Officer of the NCS, Abdullahi Maiwada, said the operation followed months of intelligence sharing between Nigerian authorities and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

According to the statement, Canadian investigators had traced several stolen luxury vehicles that were illegally shipped out of Canada through international trafficking networks before eventually arriving in Nigeria.

Internal Customs records dated May 5, 2026, listed the intercepted vehicles as including a 2019 Lexus RX350, 2019 Mercedes-Benz G550, 2023 Range Rover, 2019 Lamborghini Huracán, 2021 Rolls-Royce Dawn Convertible, 2018 Lamborghini Aventador, and a 2026 Toyota Tundra.

The statement added that the recovery reflects growing collaboration between Nigeria and Canada in tackling transnational vehicle theft and smuggling operations.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Comptroller Frank Onyeka revealed that one of the vehicles, a Toyota Tacoma, was discovered hidden inside a container alongside other automobiles before it was intercepted by Customs officers.

He explained that the container had not yet left Customs control when intelligence from Canadian authorities prompted immediate enforcement action.

According to him, the vehicle was placed under strict surveillance until its status was confirmed through international verification channels.

Onyeka noted that Customs officials deliberately delayed the release of the shipment to ensure it was handed directly to Canadian authorities for proper identification and recovery.

He described the operation as evidence of Nigeria Customs’ strengthened capacity to detect and disrupt international organised crime involving stolen assets.

He further stated that criminal networks are increasingly using global shipping routes to move stolen luxury vehicles under the guise of legitimate cargo.

The Customs Service added that the operation highlights enhanced cooperation between Nigeria and Canada in intelligence sharing, cargo monitoring, and maritime enforcement aimed at curbing cross-border criminal activities.

Tin Can Island Port, one of Nigeria’s busiest import hubs, continues to play a central role in vehicle and container traffic entering the country.

Troops of the Joint Task Force North-East, Operation HADIN KAI, have successfully repelled a coordinated night attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on the 120 Task Force Battalion in Goniri, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Reports indicate that the assault began late on Saturday, May 9, 2026, and continued into the early hours of Sunday, May 10, in the town of Goniri.

The Media Information Officer of Headquarters JTF North-East, Operation HADIN KAI, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Sunday.

According to him, the attackers advanced from the Mandunari axis around midnight but were quickly detected by troops on active duty.

Uba stated that the troops launched a coordinated counter-operation, successfully trapping the terrorists in a deadly ambush zone.

He confirmed that the camp was not breached and no military equipment was lost during the attack.

He added that air support from the OPHK Air Component and Nigerian Army Aviation played a key role in reinforcing ground troops and destroying fleeing insurgents in a joint air-land operation.

Following the engagement, intelligence-led exploitation of the area reportedly revealed blood trails, body parts, and other evidence indicating heavy casualties among the terrorists.

Military sources also confirmed the recovery of weapons and equipment, including a General Purpose Machine Gun, two PKT guns, five AK-47 rifles, and several rounds of ammunition.

Some injured soldiers are currently receiving medical treatment and are said to be in stable condition.

Troops have since continued follow-up operations in the area to track fleeing terrorists and consolidate gains from the encounter.

The military described the failed attack as further evidence of its growing operational superiority and the inability of terrorist groups to breach fortified positions in the theatre of operations.

This incident occurred less than 48 hours after troops reportedly repelled another ISWAP attack on the 27 Brigade Headquarters in Buni Gari, also in Yobe State, during which several terrorists were neutralised.

In a related operation, troops intercepted suspected terrorist logistics supplies along the Banki–Kumshe axis in Borno State during an ambush on May 8, 2026.

The interception led to the seizure of several items, including bicycles, fuel containers, medical supplies, food items, and communication accessories believed to be intended for insurgent use.

Military authorities said no troop casualties were recorded in the logistics interception and confirmed that surveillance and intelligence operations are ongoing to disrupt terrorist supply routes across the region.
