Personnel from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended a 40-year-old individual named Sherif Egbo Ally, described as a ‘businessman’ based in Madrid, Spain, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) in Abuja. He was detained while attempting to board an Air France flight to Paris, France, after it was discovered that he had ingested illegal drugs.
The arrest took place on October 14th, following a body scanner revealing that Egbo had concealed packs of illicit drugs in his stomach. Femi Babafemi, the spokesperson for the Agency, confirmed this in a statement on the following Sunday.
According to Babafemi’s statement, Egbo was placed under observation in the Agency’s exhibit recovery room, where he eventually excreted 93 heroin pellets weighing a total of 2.222 kilograms. The suspect allegedly claimed that he worked at a chicken hatchery farm in Madrid, Spain, while also engaging in drug trafficking.
Additionally, NDLEA operatives at the NAHCO imports shed of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos, seized a shipment of 10 cartons containing 500,000 pills of tramadol 225mg, branded as tapentadol, on October 16th. This cargo was shipped from India via Qatar Airways, purportedly as transit cargo to Monrovia, Liberia. However, the lid was blown open through collaborative intelligence sharing between NDLEA and its Liberian counterparts.
Furthermore, NDLEA officers thwarted an attempt by a passenger, Ngene Chinecherem Oscar, to export 11.100 kilograms of skunk and 600 grams of tramadol concealed within food items through the Lagos airport on a Qatar Airways flight to Muscat, Oman.
In other operations, NDLEA officers of the Directorate of Operations and General Investigations (DOGI), working with courier companies, intercepted a kilogram of methamphetamine hidden in containers of body cream en route to New Zealand. They also discovered 2.5 kilograms of cocaine and phenacetin concealed in the walls of a carton, destined for Saudi Arabia. Additionally, 112 grams of Dimethyl Sulfone and 583 grams of cocaine and phenacetin were seized at another courier company in Lagos.
In Imo state, operatives discovered 1,854 kilograms of skunk hidden in an abandoned Mercedes Benz container truck along the Owerri–Onitsha expressway. In Edo state, over 1,381.3 kilograms of skunk were seized in various interdiction operations, leading to the arrest of several suspects.
Kano state saw the arrest of an ex-convict, Aminu Suleiman, along with others, with 106 kilograms of cannabis. Meanwhile, operatives of the Zone J Command seized 478 kilograms of cannabis in a forest in Ikere Ekiti, and the Ondo state command recovered a total of 928 kilograms of cannabis in different locations. In Borno state, a suspect named Sani Mohammed was arrested with 182 kilograms of cannabis.
NDLEA units across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory continued their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization efforts in schools, communities, workplaces, and other areas. These efforts included lectures and town hall meetings aimed at combating drug abuse.
Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, commended the arrests and seizures and urged NDLEA personnel in all formations to remain vigilant and intensify their efforts, particularly in light of the heightened activities of criminal networks during the end-of-year season.

Murdered For Rent: Heartless Suspects Slaughter Ogun Broadcaster To Secure New Apartment!.
A former security guard, 22-year-old Sodeinde Olajuwon Phillips, has confessed to his involvement in the murder of Olakitan Ibiyola Oyesiku, a retired Ogun State broadcaster widely known as Aunty Kitan. The 67-year-old Oyesiku, who had retired from Ogun State Television, was killed along with her current security guard, Pelumi Adetayo, at her residence in Agodo village, Kobape, Abeokuta.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The investigation into the deaths was spearheaded by the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, who revealed that a crucial handwritten note found at the scene played a pivotal role in leading detectives to the suspects.
“We met her lying, facing upward to the sky, and we saw a paper, a note on her chest, and we equally found the same paper differently spread on the table in the living room,” Ojajuni stated. He further explained, “We discovered that the one that was met on her chest, the handwriting was totally different from the others that were spread.”
The use of intelligence gathering and technical tracking enabled the police to recover the deceased’s Lexus RX 330 and subsequently arrest three suspects. They were identified as Olajuwon (the former employee), 27-year-old Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, and 36-year-old Sobu Obafunsho.
A Tragic Motive: Money for Rent and Perceived Unfair Pay Upon questioning, Olajuwon provided a detailed and disturbing account of why the attack was orchestrated. He explained that a primary motive was the need for money to secure new housing for himself and Ayoola.
“My name is Sodeinde Olajuwon Phillips, and I am 22 years old. Myself, Shakirudeen and Sobu participated in the robbery and killing,” he confessed. He further elaborated, “We did it because she did not pay us well when we worked for her.”
Describing the robbery, Olajuwon recounted: “Shakirudeen and I needed more money to rent an apartment. So, we wore masks, forced the security guard to ring the bell, and after gaining entry, the security guard was taken back to his post.”
Following the attack, the group stole Oyesiku’s vehicle. Olajuwon detailed their escape, saying, “We left with her vehicle. Shakirudeen drove the car while we left together. We collected it from her before she died and drove to Onikolobo. I alighted under the bridge and went straight home, while Shakirudeen drove away with the vehicle.”
The stolen Lexus RX 330 was later recovered by the police in proximity to Olajuwon’s residence. The investigators found that the vehicle’s license plates had been removed and concealed under one of the seats.
