Ambassador Alex E. Kefas, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Portugal, played host to the Nigerian contingent participating in international friendly matches against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique in Portugal. He commended the Super Eagles’ victory over Mozambique in their second game, emphasizing the importance of preserving this winning mentality for upcoming matches and championships.

During the reception for the delegation, which included players, officials, NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, executive committee member Alhaji Sharif Rabiu Inuwa, and NFF general secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, Ambassador Kefas praised the leadership qualities of Alhaji Gusau. He urged the NFF President to continue working towards ensuring the Super Eagles’ success.

Ambassador Kefas expressed the desire for the Super Eagles to become a source of joy for Nigerians both at home and abroad. He recognized the passion of Nigerians for football and their national teams, encouraging the team to win major trophies to bring happiness to the nation.

As the race to the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals approaches, the Super Eagles secured their first friendly match victory in 55 months by defeating Mozambique 3-2 in Portimao. This victory solidified their commitment to the “Let’s Do It Again” mantra for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations finals. In a previous match, the Super Eagles had a 2-2 draw with Saudi Arabia’s Green Falcons at the same venue.
