The Kaduna State Police Command has officially confirmed the tragic murder of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Grace Chalya Silas, by unknown assailants in the state. The spokesperson for the command, ASP Mansir Hassan, revealed that the state’s Police Commissioner, Musa Yusuf Garba, has directed a manhunt for the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
The incident occurred when Silas was fatally stabbed during her morning jog in Barnawa, a region within the Kaduna South Local Government Area. In response to this tragedy, Silas’s friends and fellow students from the University of Jos (UNIJOS) expressed their grief on Facebook.
Hassan disclosed that after an emergency meeting of the command’s senior officials, the Commissioner of Police ordered the Barnawa Divisional Police Officer and law enforcement personnel to intensively search for the killers responsible for Silas’s death. The tragic incident occurred when she was confronted by miscreants, potentially phone snatchers, on motorcycles while she was jogging. The police swiftly responded, but Silas succumbed to her injuries, and the Commissioner of Police is determined to bring her killers to justice.
