A photograph capturing Joe Igbokwe, a prominent figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, attempting to take a selfie with the 2023 general elections presidential candidate from the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has surfaced on social media.
On Sunday, the LP candidate participated in the momentous unification of the Nnewi Community in Lagos, which had lacked cohesive leadership since 1982 due to internal discord among its members.
Among the attendees was Joe Igbokwe, who is known for his critical stance on the LP candidate. Nevertheless, a photo showed him momentarily putting aside his criticisms to capture a selfie with Peter Obi.
The image has generated a variety of responses from Nigerians on social media, with many expressing disapproval of the chieftain’s decision to take a selfie with someone he had previously criticized.
Comments on the photo included both criticism and support, with one individual defending Igbokwe’s actions by noting that taking a picture with a celebrity should not be deemed shameless.
