PDP Encounters Latest Setback And Crises As Board Of Trustees Demand For Secretary’s Resignation....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is grappling with internal turmoil, as the party’s Board of Trustees (BOT) has demanded the immediate resignation of Senator Samuel Anyanwu, who serves as the PDP National Secretary. The controversy arises due to his simultaneous candidacy for the Imo State gubernatorial election next month.

The BOT claims that Anyanwu’s dual role violates both party norms and the PDP’s constitutional requirement that any office holder resigns when seeking elective office. In response, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP has maintained that Anyanwu should retain his position.

This situation poses a potential risk of disqualification for Anyanwu in the gubernatorial election. The BOT has called on the National Chairman and the NWC to ensure his immediate resignation, emphasizing the urgency of the matter with the election less than 30 days away.

The dispute has further escalated tensions within the party, exposing divisions between factions led by Atiku Abubakar and Nyesom Wike, who were initially aligned in their support for Anyanwu. His affiliation with Atiku and differences with former Governor Emeka Ihedioha, among other factors, have complicated the situation.

Despite the demands for his resignation, the NWC has reiterated that Anyanwu will continue to serve as the PDP National Secretary and remain the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the forthcoming election.
