Former Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, bid a heartfelt farewell to his mother, Hajiya Halima Ibrahim, during an Islamic burial ceremony held in Gashua, Yobe State, on Sunday. Hajiya Ibrahim passed away on October 14, 2023, at the age of 86, leaving behind a large family of children and grandchildren.

The interment took place at the Gashua Central Cemetery after an Islamic burial ceremony led by the Imam of the Gashua Central Mosque, Alhaji Ahmad Talba.

The event drew thousands of constituents and sympathizers from across the region, commencing at 11 a.m. on Sunday. Dignitaries present included Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State, Deputy Governor Idi Barde Gubana of Yobe State, and Speaker Chiroma Mashio of the Yobe State House of Assembly.

The ceremony also saw the attendance of Emirs, traditional leaders, and several prominent figures, including Senator Babangida Hussaini, Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan, and Hon. Usman Zannah. Serving Commissioners from the Yobe State Government were also among the mourners.

In his condolences, Yobe Deputy Governor Gubana offered words of comfort to the former Senate President and encouraged Lawan and his siblings to keep their late mother in their prayers and continue offering Sadakatul Jariya on her behalf.
