Breaking: INEC Confirms Use Of Electronic Results Transmission For Upcoming State Elections....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, has confirmed that the results of the forthcoming governorship elections in Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa states will be transmitted electronically, adhering to the provisions of the Electoral Act. This statement follows earlier comments by the Bayelsa State Resident Electoral Commission (REC), Mr. Obo Effanga, that the election results would be transmitted manually.
Yakubu clarified the process, stating that voter accreditation would be conducted using the Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machine. The results would then be snapped and uploaded to the INEC Election Result Viewing portal. He emphasized that this method aligns with Section 60 of the Electoral Act, which outlines the process of recording and announcing results at polling units and subsequently transmitting them.
Despite some security challenges in Kogi, Yakubu expressed satisfaction with the preparation for the elections. He mentioned that all non-sensitive materials have been delivered to the local government areas in the three states. To ensure a peaceful environment for voters, he noted that efforts were underway to provide adequate deployment of security personnel.
Yakubu also highlighted some logistical concerns and explained the distribution process for materials. He encouraged Electoral Officers to follow standard templates for logistics deployment and work closely with security agencies to ensure that polling units open at 8.30 am on the day of the elections.
National Commissioner Prof. Sani Adam, who oversees Kogi, affirmed the state’s readiness for the upcoming governorship election, emphasizing the commission’s collaboration with security agencies to ensure adequate security during the elections.
Hale Gabriel Longer, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Kogi, mentioned that the state has reviewed 60% of its budget and initiated disbursements to various local government areas in preparation for the elections.
