Afenifere Leader Ayo Adebanjo Responds To President Bola Tinubu’s Academic Record Controversy, Discussing In Yoruba Nation Agitation
Afenifere Leader Ayo Adebanjo Responds To President Bola Tinubu’s Academic Record Controversy, Discussing In Yoruba Nation Agitation....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Ayo Adebanjo, the leader of the South-West socio-cultural group Afenifere, has weighed in on the controversy surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s academic records at Chicago State University (CSU). According to Adebanjo, he believes the Nigerian people should be the ultimate judges of the President’s academic results.
In an interview with The Punch, Adebanjo stated that he preferred not to delve into the issue but emphasized that when someone becomes a political figure, their private life is no longer shielded from public scrutiny.
Afenifere’s leader noted that the situation is not a complex one, and the public should be the arbiters of the matter. He stated, “What do you make of it yourself? When you say you have a certificate, they say you should make it public. For example, how can they tell me now that I should provide my academic record, and I will now tell them not to get the record? It sounds somehow. An academic record is a public document. If I told you I worked at a bank and you told me that you were going to the bank to find out if I truly worked there, then I say don’t go there. What does that mean? You don’t need rocket science to tell you what is happening, but let the people judge.
He further expressed his reluctance to be involved in the academic record issue, reiterating that for any public figure, their life becomes a matter of public interest. He left it to the public to pass judgment.
Recalling that a United States court ruled in favor of PDP’s Atiku Abubakar, granting him access to Tinubu’s academic record at CSU, the revelation has sparked numerous controversies. Atiku accused Tinubu of presenting a forged academic record to INEC during the last presidential election. It has been reported that Atiku has taken the same evidence of alleged discrepancies in Tinubu’s academic records to the Supreme Court.
Regarding the Yoruba Nations agitation, Adebanjo expressed the opinion that Nigeria is stronger when united. However, he emphasized that if unity is to be maintained, it must be based on principles of equity and fairness.
He conveyed, “The country is better together, but it means getting together on the principle of equity, fairness, and inclusiveness. Then, everybody will be better together. I won’t be in Nigeria where one tribe is cheating me. That is the essence of equity, and that is why there should be federalism in a multi-national, I mean ethnic nationalities, a nation where every nation will develop in its own space. The moment you don’t do that, and you allow one section to dominate the other, there is no fairness there. So, if we are sincere about keeping Nigeria together as a nation, then adopt federalism where every section will be equal.”

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
