Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has alleged that the presidency is responsible for the ongoing detention of the agitator. This assertion was made by Ejimakor on Friday through his Twitter account.
He argued that the Supreme Court is not accountable for Nnamdi Kanu’s prolonged incarceration.
The lawyer’s statement came in response to the recent release of Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba Nation agitator.
Ejimakor emphasized that with the release of Sunday Igboho, supported by Yoruba leaders and Tinubu, the Federal Government cannot justify the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu.

He tweeted, “The persisting incarceration of MAZI NNAMDI KANU has become more unsustainable with the release of SUNDAY IGBOHO, especially as it was done with the support of Yoruba leaders & Tinubu. To be sure, it’s the Presidency that is holding #MNK, not the Supreme Court.”
Nnamdi Kanu has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since his extradition to Nigeria in June 2021. On the other hand, Sunday Igboho was recently released after spending two years in a Beninese prison. Igboho had fled Nigeria following the DSS’s raid on his Ibadan residence.
