Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Chiedu Ebie, has pledged to work alongside his team in the development of the region. Ebie made this commitment during his screening along with other nominees by the House of Representatives Committee on NDDC in Abuja.
He stated that his past roles in the public service had equipped him with a deep understanding of the Niger Delta’s requirements. Ebie assured that he would utilize this experience to effectively manage the regional intervention agency, emphasizing a focus on teamwork, a harmonious working relationship, and the implementation of people-oriented projects based on genuine needs.

The committee accorded the 17 nominees the privilege of taking a bow and leaving, a practice extended to former National Assembly members appointed to executive positions. The motion to do so was proposed by Minority Whip Ali Isa, who praised President Bola Tinubu for involving former National Assembly members on the board.
Committee Chair Ibori-Suenu Erhiatake stated that the screening was in compliance with Section 2 (2) (a) of the NDDC Act, 2000.
Before his confirmation, the Managing Director of NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for his reappointment and affirmed the team’s commitment to fulfilling its mandate.
House Majority Leader Julius Ihonvbere expressed his confidence in the qualifications of the board members and encouraged them to work diligently to achieve success. He emphasized the importance of delivering results and doing justice for all, recognizing the expectations of Nigerians and the need for swift and effective progress in the region.
