Popular Nigerian comedian and actor, Ayo Makun, widely known as AY, has issued a public apology to Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, also known as Davido, following a recent controversy stemming from a joke made during a comedy show in Warri, Delta State.
AY’s joke, delivered at an event in Delta State, revolved around his personal struggle to have children, despite his belief that Warri men are well-endowed. He humorously contrasted this with Davido, implying that despite having a smaller “manhood,” Davido has fathered multiple children.

In response to the backlash and criticism generated by the joke, AY took to social media to express his regret and offer a sincere apology to Davido. He acknowledged that the joke had not been well-received and should not have been delivered in the manner it was. AY also acknowledged that Davido had every right to be upset, particularly considering how the media had amplified the controversial statement.
AY stated, “I am so sorry for telling that joke the way it came out in Warri. I shouldn’t even call it a joke anymore. It wasn’t funny like it was during my tour of the US and Canada, and you have every right to be angry after seeing how the blogs used it. Please know that it is always a learning experience for all of us in the entertainment business. I deserve any backlash or negative thoughts coming my way for the joke that was badly delivered in Warri. So, no excuses at all, my Aburo (younger brother). No reason am. I remain your number one fan, and I love you, @davido.”
In a gracious response to AY’s apology, Davido simply replied with a love emoji and the words, “Nothing spoil baba mi,” through his social media account.
