He pointed out that oversight responsibilities have become vast and challenging, necessitating proper training and equipment for the Commission to fulfill its mandate successfully. Arase made these remarks during a meeting with a delegation from the Chartered Institute of Forensics and Certified Fraud Investigators of Nigeria in Abuja.

Arase highlighted various complex crimes such as cyberbullying and criminal financial attacks that pose threats to Nigeria’s democracy and various sectors. He stressed the importance of the police force and the Commission quickly adapting to address these emerging challenges, emphasizing the need for proper training and equipment to carry out their constitutional duties effectively.

Arase also expressed concern about the abandonment of Divisional centers at the local level, leading to ungoverned spaces where non-state actors have taken control. He called for the continuous recruitment of police officers to populate communities, regain control of these ungoverned spaces, and restore security across the nation.

The PSC Chairman pledged to collaborate with the Institute to combat emerging financial and other crimes in Nigeria. He advocated for outsourcing skills that are lacking in the system and promised to utilize Institute officials as resource persons at Police Colleges to expose trainees to cybercrime prevention and other complex crime prevention methods.

Dr. Iliaysu Buba Gashinbaki, the Institute’s Pioneer President and Chairman Governing Council, commended Arase for his outstanding record in the Nigeria Police Force and the positive impact he has brought to the Commission. He emphasized the Institute’s commitment to supporting capacity building in crime investigation and expressed readiness to collaborate with the Commission on various aspects of police responsibilities, including recruitment, promotion, discipline, and investigation.
