Nigerians React As Ohanaeze Youth Council Fights Supreme Court Over Nnamdi Kanu’s Case....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, known as the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), has strongly criticized the Supreme Court’s decision to adjourn the judgment on the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. In response, Nigerians have expressed their concerns and opinions on the matter.

The OYC called upon the Nigerian government, led by President Bola Tinubu, to release Nnamdi Kanu to prevent a potential conflict. The National President General of the OYC, Igboayaka O. Igbo Sayaka, emphasized that the continued detention of Kanu by the Department of State Service (DSS) is a clear indication that the Southeast, predominantly inhabited by Igbos, is being held as political captives in Nigeria.

The group condemned what they referred to as the “derogatory incarceration” of Kanu, describing it as a deliberate effort to keep the Igbos in servitude and political captivity in Nigeria. They expressed disappointment in the Supreme Court’s decision to adjourn Kanu’s case until December 15, 2023, and criticized the judiciary for its alleged complicity with the executive branch.

Igboayaka argued that if Nigeria upheld the genuine separation of powers between the executive and the judiciary, such prolonged adjournments would not occur. He expressed doubts about Nigeria’s commitment to implementing the 3Rs introduced by Gen. Gowon, which include Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Reconciliation, stating that the treatment of Igbos as second-class citizens has continued unabated.

The OYC President warned that the marginalization of Igbos, the continuous detention of Nnamdi Kanu, and the neocolonialism tendencies could lead to civil and tribal unrest. He called for a referendum for the indigenous Igbos as a means to determine their future.

In conclusion, Nigerians reacted to the OYC’s strong statement, expressing their views on the situation, with some sharing concerns about the potential for conflict and the need for dialogue and reconciliation.
