Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has extended an invitation to his political rivals, urging them to join forces with him in the state’s development efforts. This call comes after the election tribunal dismissed a petition filed by Okey Ahiwe, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, against Otti’s victory.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Otti expressed his gratitude to the residents of the state for their unwavering support during and after the election. He appealed to his opponents to halt any further legal proceedings and, instead, allocate the resources expended on litigation to aid communities in need.

Otti emphasized that numerous communities in the state lack basic amenities such as roads and access to clean water. Redirecting financial resources towards addressing these pressing issues, he argued, would be a meaningful way to make a positive impact.
He stated, “My advice to my opponents is that this is a good time to sheathe their swords and join hands with me to develop our state, Abia. Regardless of the perspective, litigation incurs significant costs. While I will not ask them to bring the money to me, I would advise that each of them has villages that are deteriorating, lacking roads and water. I believe that their communities will appreciate it if they would channel those resources into building roads in their villages and communities.”
Otti acknowledged the right of his opponents to seek legal recourse but emphasized that the victory he secured should not have been contested in the first place. He expressed gratitude to the judiciary and all individuals who contributed to ensuring that justice prevailed in the end.
