The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, has confirmed that there is evidence suggesting that controversial Nigerian singer, Naira Marley, and his associate, Balogun Olamilekan Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, were involved in an assault on the late singer, Mohbad, before his death.
Sam Larry faced criticism on social media after a video surfaced showing him and others harassing the late Mohbad.

Sam Larry, who was abroad at the time of Mohbad’s death, released a statement after his arrest, explaining that the altercation with the deceased singer was over a N2 million debt.
During a press briefing on Friday, where he provided an update on the ongoing investigation into Mohbad’s case, Commissioner Owohunwa revealed that the police had identified 26 witnesses in the case.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has expressed its commitment to securing proper compensation and royalties for Mohbad’s musical works. Chairman of the House Committee on Justice, Olumide Osoba, stated during an interactive session that payments from these sources are crucial revenue streams for artists. Osoba emphasized the need to protect musicians, particularly up-and-coming artists, in disputes with record labels, as the current industry system does not adequately safeguard their entitlements.

In a post on social media, Showunmi said Atiku’s political strength and preparedness give him an advantage in the emerging contest, while noting that former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi could emerge as his strongest rival.
He also observed growing political dissatisfaction across parts of the country, particularly in the North, saying both rural and urban voters are increasingly aggrieved.
According to him, these sentiments could significantly influence the outcome of the 2027 general elections.
Showunmi warned political actors against neglecting loyal supporters, noting that shifting alliances could reshape the political landscape ahead of the polls.
He further described Atiku as fully committed and actively preparing for the race.
Highlighting key regions to watch, he said the South-East may play a decisive role, while the South-West remains unpredictable, and the North-Central could serve as a critical swing zone in the election.
