Adamawa Tribunal Rejects SDP’s Petition
Adamawa Tribunal Rejects SDP’s Petition....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Adamawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has rejected the petition brought forward by Dr. Umar Ardo, the gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), challenging the victory of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 18 governorship election.
Ardo had submitted a petition to the tribunal following the announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that Fintiri had won the election. In his petition, Ardo named INEC, Fintiri, and 16 others as respondents and alleged that the election did not adhere to the requirements of the Electoral Act.

The petitioner further claimed that the election conducted by the first respondent, Fintiri, was tainted by corrupt practices, threats, and violence. Consequently, he sought the annulment of the entire election.
In response, the first to fourth respondents argued before the tribunal that the petition was time-barred and therefore could not be considered. They also contended that the petition lacked supporting evidence and did not comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act.
In her ruling, the tribunal’s chairperson, T. O. Uloho, declared the petition to be incompetent, flawed, inconsistent, and improperly presented to the tribunal. She remarked that the petitioners’ intentions were unclear.
Justice Uloho stated that the petitioners had combined allegations of corrupt practices and non-compliance with the Electoral Act without providing written statements of the names of their intended witnesses. She emphasized that accusations of corrupt practices required substantial and credible evidence to be proven, and the failure to do so rendered the petition devoid of probative value, worthless, and ineffectual.
Consequently, the tribunal dismissed the petition and ordered the petitioners to pay the sum of N200,000 to INEC, Fintiri, Prof. Kaletapwa, and the PDP in favor of the respondents.
