Senate President Akpabio Addresses Allegations Of Establishing An ‘Office Of The First Lady’ For His Wife....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The report suggesting that Senate President Godswill Akpabio has established an office for his wife, Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, in the National Assembly has been refuted.

Eseme Eyiboh, the Special Adviser to the Senate President on Media and Publicity, clarified on Monday that Akpabio has neither created nor intends to create such an office for his wife.

Eyiboh explained that while the report shouldn’t have necessitated a response, it was crucial to counter the narrative, which appeared designed to defame and discredit the Senate President.

The alleged creation of such an office for Akpabio’s wife in the National Assembly had purportedly sparked indignation among lawmakers. However, Akpabio’s spokesperson dismissed the report as illogical and urged people to disregard it.

He emphasized that the only association Akpabio’s wife has with the National Assembly is her role as the leader of the Senators’ Wives Association of Nigeria (SWAN), owing to her husband’s position as the President of the Senate.

“In a story spanning 20 paragraphs regarding the establishment of a non-existent office for the Senate President’s wife, only three paragraphs were dedicated to the baseless claim. The remaining 17 paragraphs were devoted to unrelated anecdotes and insinuations,” he stated.

To clarify for those who may be susceptible to misleading information, it was stressed that Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio does not hold an office in the National Assembly, nor are there any plans to create one.

Eyiboh stated, “The sole connection she has with the National Assembly is due to her husband’s role as the President of the Senate, and consequently, she holds the position of President of the Senators’ Wives Association of Nigeria, as has been the tradition with previous Senate Presidents.”

He stressed that although the commissions have different regional mandates, they must work towards a shared national goal of inclusive and sustainable development.

Highlighting existing challenges, the minister pointed to issues such as project duplication, abandoned initiatives, and rivalry among agencies. He said the government would prioritise better coordination and accountability to improve results.

Momoh also announced plans to focus on completing ongoing projects before initiating new ones and revealed that performance bonds would be introduced for commission leaders to ensure efficiency and transparency.

According to the source, the twins maintained a daily routine of speaking around midnight, but the conversation took a sudden turn that night when unusual activity was noticed at the General’s end.

He said the line went dead abruptly after the General paused during the call, apparently due to the unfolding situation at the base.

The twin brother reportedly made repeated attempts to reconnect, sending messages and calling continuously, but received no response throughout the night.

“He kept trying until about 4 am, but there was no answer,” the source said.
