In the northeastern coastal town of Ciudad Madero, located in the Tamaulipas state of Mexico, a church collapsed during a Baptismal service, resulting in a tragic incident. It was reported that at least ten worshippers, including three children, lost their lives, and numerous others sustained varying degrees of injuries when the church’s roof caved in on them.

Local officials have confirmed that at least ten individuals, comprising five women, two men, and three children, have tragically perished in the incident. Additionally, around 60 people received medical treatment for injuries, with 23 individuals still hospitalized. It is reported that the death toll is not expected to increase beyond the initial count, as all missing individuals have been located.

Rescue efforts involving military personnel, emergency services, rescue dogs, and heavy machinery are ongoing to identify and rescue survivors trapped under the church’s debris.

Bishop Jose Armando Alvarez of the local diocese commented in a social media video that “the roof of a church collapsed during the celebration of the Eucharist.” As of the time of this report, numerous ambulances, patrol cars, and a substantial presence of police and military personnel remained at the scene.
