Qualifiers For The Under-20 World Cup: Mauritius Pulls Out Of Competition Against Super Falconets....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Nigerian Under-20 Women’s team, Super Falconets, have progressed to the third round of the African Under-20 Women’s World Cup qualification campaign for Colombia 2024.

This development followed the notification by the Mauritius Football Association to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) regarding their Under-20 Women’s National team’s decision to withdraw from their match against the Super Falconets

Initially, the Mauritian women were scheduled to host the first leg of the qualifiers a week before the second leg, which was planned for October 14 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

However, a statement from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Thursday, September 28, confirmed that CAF had conveyed the change in plans. According to CAF’s message, “Mauritius FA informed CAF of the withdrawal from the African qualifiers of FIFA U-20 WWC 2024. Consequently, Nigeria advances to the next round of the competition, and the missions of all officials of matches 37 & 38 are canceled.”

Mauritius had earned their place in the second round of qualification by defeating Chad’s under-20 women’s team. They were anticipated to provide strong competition for the Super Falconets in the third round. However, Nigeria’s advancement to the next stage now occurs without a match.

In the Colombia 2024 U-20 Women’s World Cup, two African teams will compete, with the Super Falconets being one of the expected contenders.

Notably, the Nigerian team reached the quarterfinals of the 2022 edition of the tournament in Costa Rica before being defeated 2-0 by The Netherlands. While the Super Falconets have advanced to the Under-20 World Cup finals in 2010 and 2014, both times they were defeated by Germany.

This marks the second instance in less than a month in which a women’s team withdrew from international qualification games against Nigerian women’s teams, as Sao Tome and Principe’s women’s team also withdrew from Women’s AFCON qualifiers against the Super Falcons earlier this month.

APC Fires Back at Adeleke Over ₦300bn LG Funds Allegation, Blames Governor for Salary Crisis....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to claims by Governor Ademola Adeleke that local government officials under the party diverted about ₦300 billion meant for workers’ salaries.

Adeleke had made the allegation during a stakeholders’ meeting, accusing APC-controlled council officials of hijacking funds and forcing the state government to shoulder salary payments for local government workers, teachers, health staff, and pensioners for over a year.

He insisted he would not abandon workers, blaming the situation for delays in executing some state projects.

But in a statement, APC’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, dismissed the claims, accusing the governor of misleading the public and shifting blame.

The party alleged that Adeleke was responsible for the salary issues, claiming he refused to release electronic payment vouchers and other financial documents needed for processing payments.

APC also said pension-related records, leave bonuses, cooperative deductions, and other financial data had not been made available despite repeated appeals, insisting that funds were properly accounted for and available for use if approved.

The party urged pensioners and workers to seek clarification, insisting the situation could be resolved if the governor allowed due process to take place.
