In a determined effort to restore lasting peace in Kebbi State, Senators Garba Musa Maidoki and Yahaya Abdullahi, representing Kebbi South and North respectively, convened a strategic meeting on Thursday. They met with Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), along with key stakeholders in the security sector.
The meeting, held in the CDS’s office in Abuja, aimed to strengthen security measures and apparatus in order to combat the challenges of banditry, insurgencies, and kidnapping plaguing Kebbi State and its neighboring regions, which have greatly affected the livelihoods and security of its citizens.

Senator Maidoki, addressing reporters after the meeting, emphasized the critical importance of security in Kebbi South and across the entire state. He stated, “It was an honor to engage in this productive dialogue with the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Musa. We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our constituents and all residents of Kebbi State.”
Maidoki highlighted the discussions during the meeting, which included strategies to enhance security, increased collaboration between local communities, law enforcement agencies, and the military. They also emphasized the significance of intelligence-sharing and community policing to address emerging security challenges.
He stressed the dedication of Kebbi’s lawmakers to making the state a safer place for everyone and called for mutual understanding between the people of Kebbi and the military to facilitate the peace process.
Senator Maidoki thanked Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa for his valuable insights and commitment to addressing security issues in Kebbi State, expressing hope for continued collaboration and progress in the endeavor to create a more secure and peaceful environment in the state.
Maidoki further called for support and input from the community in the fight against insecurity, highlighting the adverse effects of insecurity on both the people and the state’s economy.
In response, Major General Musa described the myriad security challenges in Kebbi State as “worrisome” and emphasized the need for key stakeholders to come together to examine and implement solutions. He expressed condolences to the government and people of Kebbi State for recent incidents and reiterated the military’s commitment to ensuring lasting peace and security in Kebbi.
