Senator Elisha Abbo, along with Nollywood stars Tonto Dikeh and Iyabo Ojo, paid a visit to the family of the late singer Mohbad, whose real name is Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba. Mohbad passed away last week, and his demise has raised questions.
During the visit to Mohbad’s family in Lagos State’s Lekki area, Senator Abbo and the Nollywood stars extended their condolences. Senator Abbo assured Mohbad’s mother of protection and pledged an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the rapper’s death.

Senator Abbo, who chairs the Senate Committee on Entertainment Economy, also announced plans to lead an initiative for the establishment of a Creative Economy Commission. This commission aims to address conflicts within the creative industry, including disputes related to record labels and artist contracts. It seeks to prevent situations where individuals resort to self-help.
The visit aligns with the ongoing calls for justice regarding Mohbad’s death. Across Nigeria, protests have erupted, demanding a thorough investigation and sanctions against anyone found culpable in the singer’s passing.
Prior to these public demands, the police authorities initiated their own probe into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death. Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun ordered a comprehensive investigation into the tragic incident.

During a press conference in Lagos on Friday, Imumolen explained that the choice followed thorough consultations within the party, emphasizing that national interest must outweigh personal political ambitions. He noted that despite ongoing economic challenges like inflation and security, the administration’s long-term reforms and people-oriented programs make a Tinubu victory inevitable in 2027, warning that a change in leadership would reset developmental progress.
Outlining a 10-point rationale for the endorsement, Imumolen pointed to Tinubu’s courage in driving tough economic reforms, commitment to youth empowerment by appointing young Nigerians to strategic positions, and alignment with the Accord Party’s manifesto. He further asserted that no current opposition candidate holds a stronger prospect of victory and dismissed claims that the endorsement stems from weak party structures, maintaining that the decision is entirely focused on ensuring political stability and national development.

The EFCC had placed a “Post No Bill” order on the accounts on Wednesday, citing suspicious transactions and an ongoing investigation since March 2026, asserting its legal right to freeze accounts for 72 hours based on reasonable suspicion. However, President Bola Tinubu intervened on Thursday, directing the commission to unfreeze the accounts and labeling their action embarrassing due to its timing and political optics.
Following this intervention, opposition figures intensified pressure on Olukoyede to resign. Major Agbo, National Chairman of the NNPP, criticized Tinubu’s directive as undermining the EFCC’s independence by creating the appearance that the commission takes orders from the President, while Yunusa Tanko of the Obidient Movement suggested Olukoyede should step down to protect his personal integrity.
Conversely, sources within the Presidency indicated that while President Tinubu was frustrated with the timing of the move, it does not signal the end of Olukoyede’s tenure, with one official noting that a disagreement with the President is not grounds for dismissal.
In a related development, court documents obtained by SaharaReporters revealed that the EFCC had secured a formal order from the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, August 5, 2026, to freeze three Osun State Government accounts over allegations of public fund diversion and money laundering. This order authorizes the agency to restrict transactions pending the conclusion of its investigation and potential prosecution.
