In response to the recent ruling by the election petitions tribunal, which resulted in the removal of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Kano State Government has declared a comprehensive 24-hour curfew throughout the state.
The announcement was conveyed through an official statement signed by Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Usaini Gumel, on Wednesday evening. Gumel affirmed that a unified team of security personnel has been deployed throughout the city to enforce the curfew.

“Moving forward, residents of Kano State are urged to take note that a coordinated security force has been dispatched to all corners of the state, including its entry and exit points, to ensure strict compliance with the 24-hour curfew order. This directive, as communicated by the State Government via a letter bearing Reference No: K/SEC/H/435/T.1/153 dated 20th September, 2023, will be in effect from 6 pm on Wednesday, 20th September, until 6 pm on Thursday, 21st September, 2023,” the statement read.
Recognizing the constitutional responsibilities of the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant internal security agencies to uphold law and order in the state, the Kano State Police Command assured residents of its strategic planning in this regard and called on the populace to lend their trust and support.
The statement issued a stern warning, emphasizing that those who breach the curfew will face legal consequences: “Violators will be apprehended and subject to the full force of the law.”
In conclusion, Commissioner Gumel expressed appreciation to the peace-loving citizens of the state and urged them to maintain law-abiding behavior, emphasizing the collective interest in preserving law and order in Kano State.

He said Tinubu’s continuity in office was necessary to sustain ongoing reforms and promote equity, justice, and fairness across the country.
Buhari made the call while speaking with journalists at the end of a three-day women’s capacity-building programme held in Oyo North.
He commended the President for creating an enabling environment that allowed lawmakers to initiate empowerment programmes targeting women, especially in small and medium-scale enterprises within agricultural value chains.
The senator disclosed that 120 women from across Oyo State benefited from the training, with each receiving ₦100,000 to support their businesses.
He urged beneficiaries to use the funds wisely to improve their livelihoods and continue supporting the administration’s policies.
Buhari also encouraged participants to pray for the President, describing him as committed to improving the welfare of women and youths.
He explained that beneficiaries were drawn from all three senatorial districts in Oyo State, expressing confidence that Tinubu would emerge as the APC presidential candidate in 2027.
According to him, both he and the President recognise the crucial role of women in securing electoral victory for the party.
He added that more empowerment and capacity-building programmes would be rolled out in the near future to further support women and small business owners.
