Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has granted his approval for the appointment of Mr. Bukar Abubakar as the new Rector of Ramat Polytechnic in Maiduguri.

In a statement released by Mallam Isa Gusau, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, it was revealed that prior to his appointment, Abubakar held the position of Deputy Rector, Administration, at the polytechnic.

The statement further highlighted Abubakar’s notable contributions within the institution, including his roles as the head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology from 2014 to 2019, acting director of the School of Engineering in 2016, principal lecturer from 2018 to 2021, deputy rector for administration from 2020, chairman of the Staff Development Committee since 2020, and chief lecturer from 2022 to the present.

Additionally, the new Rector has an extensive academic portfolio with nearly 40 published research works in academic journals, along with several unpublished research endeavors.

Bukar Abubakar is an esteemed member of various professional organizations, including the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, Nigeria Association of Vocational and Technical Educators, International Association of Engineers, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, as noted by Gusau.
