Tribunal Reserves Judgment In Nasarawa Governorship Election Petition Case
Tribunal Reserves Judgment In Nasarawa Governorship Election Petition Case....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Governorship Elections Petition Tribunal in Lafia, Nasarawa State, has decided to defer its judgment regarding the petition challenging the outcome of the state’s 2023 governorship election.
David Ombugadu, the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, has contested the victory of Governor Abdullahi Sule from the APC in the election.
During the proceedings held on Thursday, the tribunal had scheduled the adoption of final written submissions by the petitioner’s and respondents’ legal teams. Following the conclusion of this process, Justice Ezekiel Ajayi, the chairman of the three-member panel, opted to reserve judgment and stated that the tribunal would notify the parties through their legal representatives of the judgment’s delivery date.
Earlier in the session, Kanu Agabi (SAN), the lead counsel for the petitioner, informed the tribunal that he had presented all of his arguments as outlined in his written submission. Agabi urged the tribunal to invalidate the Nasarawa State governorship election due to alleged violations of the electoral act and to declare the PDP candidate as the rightful winner. He emphasized a perceived disparity between the votes in the IREV and the final declared results.
Conversely, Isiaka Dikko (SAN), Hassan Liman (SAN), and Wole Olanikpekun (SAN), representing INEC, the APC, and Governor Sule, respectively, adopted their final written addresses and called for the dismissal of the petition on the grounds of lacking merit. The APC’s counsel asserted that the petitioner had not adequately substantiated his claims, particularly regarding the handling of BVAS machines and IREV records, and therefore urged the tribunal to reject the petition.
